Enough.

Enough. These few words are enough.

If not these words, this breath.

If not this breath, this sitting here.

This opening to the life

We have refused again and again

Until now.

Until now.

Mindful Psych offers an integrative approach to psychiatric care, focusing on treating the whole person - body, mind and spirit. This approach is grounded in the belief that each person’s healing journey is unique and should be supported by a treatment plan that is tailored to meet their specific needs.

I treat a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Depression & Anxiety

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Inattention & ADHD

  • Grief, Loss, & Life Transition Issues

In Person and Remote Options

My office is located on Music Row in Nashville. Can’t make it to my office? No problem. I offer telehealth options for individuals in Tennessee and Vermont.

Who I treat:

I treat adolescents (13+) and adults. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds, orientations, sizes, and beliefs in my practice.

Services I offer

  • Treatment Consultation

While medications alone are not usually the complete answer to any treatment plan, they are often a big part of the puzzle. In a treatment consultation we will work together to look at your presenting concerns, medical history, and specific needs. The goal of this consultation is to create a roadmap for us to explore in an effort to offer symptom relief and restore balance in your life.

  • Medication Management

Medications that are tailored to fit your specific needs can often be an important part of a health and wellness plan. I am here to offer you consistent, supportive care in both the establishment and maintenance of a medication regimen that works within the context of your life and healing journey.

  • Case Consultation

My professional background is diverse - I worked as an attorney for seventeen years, prior to becoming a PMHNP and Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. These various paths have afforded me opportunities to partner with colleagues in Law, Medicine, Nursing, and other fields. I enjoy working as a consultant on cases in the legal system, with other clinicians, and with consulting firms in need of an advisor.

About me…

Eydie Cloyd, JD, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC

I am originally from Johnson City, TN but have called Nashville home for the past twenty-five years. I became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2005 with the desire to support adolescents and adults in feeling more empowered in their own healing journeys.

I have worked in a variety of community health settings, most recently at the the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt. My work at the Osher Center specialized in providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other disorders. During my tenure at the Osher Center, I was also part of the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Initiative, as well as an instructor in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.

I served for sixteen years on the faculty at Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Speciality and have enjoyed mentoring PMHNP students in my practice.

Prior to my work as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I worked as an attorney for seventeen years. In this role I provided a range of advocacy and legal services to underserved populations, including those suffering from mental illness.

I hold a Masters of Science and Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee, College of Law. I recently completed my 200 hour yoga teacher certification and continue to deepen my own understanding of the healing connection between the mind and body.

I opened Mindful Psych to offer a restorative and integrative space for patients in need of supportive psychiatric treatment.

Frequently asked questions

  • What do I need to do if I want to see you for the first time?

Please fill out this form on my website and I will get back to you with further details about scheduling an appointment.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am NOT in network with any insurance companies. This is helpful in keeping your information private and controlling who has access to your psychiatric record. Upon your request, I can provide you with a list of fees and billing codes and/or a completed statement with codes necessary to file an out of network claim with your insurance carrier, if you choose to do so.

  • What are your fees?

New patient appointment (60 minutes): $300

Standard follow up appointment (25 minutes) : $150

Extended follow up appointment (45 minutes): $225

Prescription Refills outside of appointment: $30

After hours calls: $100 per 10 minute increment

Paperwork not completed during session: $50-$100 depending on amount of time needed

Missed appointments or cancellations made less than 72 hours will be charged in full

  • What kind of medications do you prescribe?

Depending on your treatment plan, various psychiatric medications may be considered, including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, medications for attention disorders, and medications for anxiety. I very seldom prescribe benzodiazepines (and recommend avoiding their use if at all possible). In addition to medications, I also make recommendations about vitamins, labwork, and genetic testing (if needed). Finally, medications alone are never a complete treatment plan. We will discuss non-medication options and strategies. I consider these to be equally if not more important than medications in nearly every treatment plan.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, check, credit card, or HSA cards are all acceptable forms of payment.

I like to talk about exactly what medications do. They are not going to change who we are— actually, they will allow us to come back to who we used to be.

I had the pleasure of joining the Bardo Consulting team on their podcast, Going Through It, to discuss common questions about Pyschotropic Medications.
